A recent program by the Veterans Administration conducted a survey of the VA's own officers in regraard to the Aid and Attendance Benefit. It seems that many of the employees of this organization are underinformed or even misinformed about the program. In over 30% of the cases, VSO's offered incorrect information to someone seeking the benefit.

Long term care insurance (LTCI) payments represent a form of income when calculating eligibility for the Aid and Attendance benefit. Those planning for the the benefit need to take into account that the commencement of such payments could knock someone out of the eligibility band when all income is accounted for, unless proper planning has already been implemented.
