S.894: Veteran's Compensation Inflation Adjustment 2012

By on October 28, 2011 with 3 Comments

It's official: There was inflation in 2011. At least that is the word from the OMB and as a result, awards to veterans who qualify for the Aid and Attendance Benefit will rise from where they were last year and the year before.

2012 Maximum Monthly Pension Rates for Aid and Attendance
Veteran, Married ( 1 Dependent) $2,020
Veteran, Single $1,704
Surviving Spouse $1,094
Veterans married to another Veteran $2,672
Spouse of a Living Veteran $1,338

Social security amounts were changed as well. In spite of a great deal of talk about changing social security income benefits, we haven't heard of any pending legislation to change veteran benefits as of yet.

For those who have applied for and received the benefit through our organization, Veteran Benefit EVR reviews are coming up. Please contact us for your review procedures and to properly fill out the EVR form before it is due in March of 2011.

My father served in the Korean War. He and my mother are both living trying to take care of each other in the home. Dad falls a lot, has had a stroke and memory is poor. Would they qualify for any type of assistance?
Mom has CHF, has been in the hospital for renal failure and has had to have dialysis in the past, not currently. They have a difficult time transporting to doctor's appointments, etc. Could the kids get any kind of compensation for staying with them and helping out?

    Please advise.

    Thank you,
    Brenda

  2. It's possible to get funding from the VA for home care. In order to do this, you will need a VA copliant caregiver contract. Most of the "contracts" you can find on the web are not sufficient. In order to do this correctly, you'll need the help of a VA accredited attorney.
