Fast Track Timeline for VA Benefit Payments

We’ve seen some varied (and strangely creative) methods used to complete an Aid an Attendance application. Unfortunately, originality is not rewarded by the VA when it comes to getting the benefit as quickly as possible. Estimates from local VA offices indicate that the first check for this program may come in the next year or two. That’s a long time for most people who need it.

You can greatly speed up the process with our streamlined application procedure. Here are the steps:

TODAY: Go to the events section of the website and attend the workshop as soon as possible. You’ll find one available almost every week. Use the information in this email sequence to begin to collect the personal documents needed for the application. You’ll get most of that information within the next few days.

DAY 7: At the workshop you’ll learn to fully understand things like income documentation and medical necessity for the benefit.

You’ll get an idea of what an immediately qualified applicant looks like and you’ll be able to calculate the value of the benefit to your family member. You’ll also get a list of the remaining tasks you need to accomplish in order to have the AAWV prepare a 100% approveable application on your behalf.

DAY 14: At the workshop, you’ll get access to Jeff Bremer, the local VA accredited attorney who works with the AAWV. You can schedule a complimentary meeting with him and so far, most first meetings can take place within a week of the workshop. Bring the documents and worksheets you have collected and created overt the last week or two.

If you are qualified, you’ll leave with two packets. One is for your veteran family member. It requires them to sign their name in 6 places. The other packet is to be completed by you. Using the materials you have already collected, the packet should take you less than an hour to complete.

We’ll complete the third portion of the packet and within another day or two, your application will be prepared by the Attorneys and staff at the Michigan offices of the American Association of Wartime Veterans.

Benefits will be paid retroactively to the first of the month following the VA’s official acknowledgment of receipt of the application.
